Pope Villa on Grosvenor Avenue off Rose Street in Lexington has been owned by the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation since a 1987 fire, when it was being used for student rental housing. Benjamin Latrobe designed the house for U.S. Sen. John Pope. It was finished in 1813 but drastically altered in the years since. The Trust has been slowly working to restore the much-damaged house to its original design. Photo by Tom Eblen | teblen@herald-leader.com
