This circa 1800 cherry games table from a private Kentucky collection is thought to have been made by Henry Clay’s younger brother, Porter Clay, one of early Lexington’s finest furniture makers. Clay’s workmanship has been likened to Duncan Fife, whom he may have known during a year in New York, and his prices were higher.
